Dining Room Furniture
Is it time to freshen up your dining room? Are you looking for new dining room furniture or are you considering changing the accessories? Dining Rooms have come a long way in the last few years.
In many homes that are being built today, an open floor plan lends itself to a more informal dining area, rather than a formal dining room as was the case in older homes. This informality has lead to a change in the type of furniture that designers are choosing for clients. As in other rooms in the house, an eclectic approach to choosing furniture is the way to go.
Dining rooms do not have to have a matched table and chairs. In fact, the chairs themselves do not have to match. You may choose to have different chairs that are coordinated in some way, possibly through coordinating fabrics. Dining room furniture today is whatever you want it to be. If you would like to use a bench on one side of the table and chairs on the other, that is fine. If you want to use different chairs, such as wing chairs at the ends of the table, that is your decision. When you look at magazines and TV shows, you will see such a range of furniture in a dining room that you will realize that whatever you like is fine. Choosing side pieces or shelves in your dining room, again, are a matter of taste. These pieces can coordinate with the rest of the furniture or be pieces that you find and like.
A chandelier over the table should be something that makes a statement. The most important feature of the chandelier is that it provides enough light for the table. Make sure that the chandelier that you purchase is the right size.
Choosing window coverings and wall coverings or paint finishes off your room. Pick coordinating colors and fabrics for the draperies and walls that will fit in with the rest of the room.
Choose one piece as the focal point of the room and then you can work around that piece. It might be the chandelier, a side piece, a painting, a fireplace or other piece of art in the room. Once you have your focal point, you can continue to decorate. Make sure that you do not clutter the room with too many pieces. It is better to have less in the room than too much.
